• ATENZA: Rim cleaning session

When i changed the wheels on the car a few weeks ago from summer to winter tires, i realized that the rims were full of brake-pad dust, despite the fact i ran through a good automatic car wash just two days before. I usually don’t spend too much time on detailing my daily driver, as i know it will be messed up again two days later. Especially with the current weather conditions. But this really triggered my OCD. so i bought a spray bottle of Sonax Rim cleaner and started with this (by far not the worst part of them all): After spraying the rims it immeadiately started to drop…

  • ATENZA: How to restore faded plastic parts (rear wiper)

Hard plastic parts tend to fade and get dull and flat colouring after being exposed to too much UV-rays out in the sun. A while ago i saw this interesting youtube video, on how they restore faded plastic parts with fire / heat. I’m not an expert, but my assumtion is that the surface basically melts because of the heat and the molecules realign so it looks like fresh out of the mold again. Now a few days ago i looked at my Daily driver and saw this: The rear wiper plastic cover clearly had seen it’s best days, so i thought this was the perfect piece to give it…

  • ATENZA: Mazda Japan 1/64 Diecast car

When i was at the Tokyo Auto Salon in 2016, the Mazda booth had some of the most iconic demo cars of the recent years, like this one here: I also took some brochures from their booth but filed them and completely forgot about them until when i recently sorted through my documents. I realized that i had a pretty cool “Mazda Goods collection” brochure with all fancy japanese Mazda goodies inside. which you can buy at a special Mazda shop or order via the dealerships or online. Those goods are normally not available outside of Japan. I realized that they had a 1/64 miniature version of my actual daily…

  • ATENZA: LED Bulbs & other OEM options installation

A while ago, i bought a few factory optional / accessory parts from Mazda for my Mazda 6 / Atenza Station wagon. Today i finally found the time to complete the installation. 1) Let’s start with the simple stuff. the retractable USB-C phone charging cable. Before: And after: It’s really just swapping a cable, but i like the retractable style of the new one, you can neatly store it in the (also optional) storage bin in the center console: 2) The Parcel net: It requires you to cut a (premarked) hole in the (also optional ) trunk rubber mat: To get access to the parcel net hooks which are behind.…

  • ATENZA: Small Mazda Option Parts delivery

OK, this are probably not the type of parts you’d expect to see on this page, but recently i got a few small “upgrades” in the form of original Mazda option parts for my daily Mazda 6 / Atenza Station wagon. First of all a parcel net. Nothing crazy, but since i tend to transport bigger packages from time to time, this is great to secure stuff in the trunk without getting into trouble in case of a police check and without having stuff moving around in the back during the drive. Second – well – something as random as an retractable Mazda USB type-C cable. I currently use an…

  • ATENZA: Back from repair

Shortly after i brought my car for damage repair, i got it back. I was surprized how fast those guys where. So what they had to do was fix the rear hatch door and paint it new, replace the right hand taillight and replace the complete rear bumper incl sensors. What they additionally had to do was paint both rear doors, both rear quarters, the repaired hatch and rear bumper. additionally to the roof spoiler. This is a win for me because i had the Maszdaspeed roof spoiler painted by a local paintshop and the hue was slightly off. now it fits much better! From my unprofessional point-of-view they did…

  • ATENZA: Rear damage accident

This week i was involved in an accident. I had to brake hard because of a car in front of me did the same and two guys crashed in my rear when i had to brake from 100 km/h to zero. The reson why i write this post is to remind everbody how important it is to keep distance and buckle up! It was morning i drove to work when out of nowwhere the car in front of me broke hard. I had to brake hard as well, I thought i’d hit him but luckily the car stopped approx 1m behind the car in front of me. Phew. But then…

  • ATENZA: OEM Puddle light installation & new floor mats

Recently i had the urge to replace the floor mats in my Mazda 6 / Atenza (see why in a minute). so while placing an order at Mazda, i browsed around the Mazda accessory page and also found some other cool things to add, but then luckily my budget was quite limited, so i decided to only get one additional item. A few days ago the delivery arrived: The first thing was a set of “Premium” floor mats. You have to buy the whole set and even if they’re called premium, the quality is honestly quite cheap. at least if you look at the bottom side.. This is was the…

  • OTHER: Greetings from the Julierpass

The last days we spent skiing with some friends in St.Moritz which was all great itself. But the real fun was the way there and back. Ok the way there was late at night in the dark so i took driving easy. But the way back was absolutely glorious! We initially planned to drive back over the Flüelen or Albula pass but both of them where closed because of snow / Winter-time. The other Route via davos would include loading the car on a train for a part of the trip, which i wanted to avoid, so this is basically the only route left (except a long detour via the…

  • ATENZA: Photoshoot 2020

Ever since i installed the new optional / Mazdaspeed Roof spoiler, i wanted to grab my camera and take some nice pictures. Well it didn’t really happen until yesterday. I decided to give it a quick wash and checked out some locations. Decided the local Quarrel was the perfect spot at sundown. I then selected three of the best pictures and made them a bit more clean and expressive, using my simple and very limited photoshop skills. Here we go, i hope you enjoy them as much as i do 🙂
