• ATENZA: Mazda recall (new trunk gate dampers)

Last week i got a phone call from my Dealer that i will recceive a letter from Mazda switzerland soon, telling me that i would get some free new trunk gate dampers, due to a recall. Read more about the recall here I digged a bit deeper and it seems like supplier of the gas shocks “Showa” of Japan had a big batch of faulty dampers which they would replace for free. They were also installed on a series of Nissans and other cars. So i went there and got a set of new dampers installed within 15minutes. Great service 🙂 Old ones: No corrosion visible. I guess they just…

  • ATENZA: Interieur cleaning day

Nothing special, just spent an hour or so cleaning out the interieur of my daily Mazda yesterday, which has collected a fair amount of dust and dirt over the last months. And while at it, i decided to take a few pictures. One of them can be seen in the rotating header image now 🙂

  • ATENZA: Hatch cleaned, Atenza Emblem installed

Has been a while since i did some physical work on any of my cars, but i’m doing a lot of reasarch at the moment and enjoying the short summer. However i felt like it’s time to get some work done today. Started like this: Decided to clean my hatch a bit by removing the “skyactive” and “Mazda 6” Emblems. Used some dental floss to “cut” through the adhesive stuff: And then removed the rest by rubbing it with my fingers and using solvent cleaner. Took me about an hour to complete the job 🙂 Then installed the JDM “Atenza” emblem at the exactly same position:  And this is how…

  • ATENZA / FRIENDS: Emblems / Stickers / Wheel parts delivery

I always thought the Japanese “Atenza” name is way cooler than the european “Mazda 6” So when making the big datsun order in Japan a few weeks ago i decided to throw in the JDM badge as well 🙂 And since i plan to update the car with some simple mazdaspeed parts whenever funds allow me i decided to throw in a bunch of mazdaspeed stickers as well, since they are not available here: and then i helped a buddy of mine who bought a set of RAYS wheels from japan for his project (more on that soon i guess) with some brand new Volk racing parts to refurbish his…

  • ATENZA: OEM Accessory Tray

I know it’s nothing big (Some small bits from Japan are on the way and some bigger plans for the future are there), but since we’re making a big roadtrip in our trusty and spacey Mazda 6 soon, i thought i’d upgrade my Mazda a little bit with an accessory Tray, which is a Mazda dealer accessory: Before After 🙂 It’s perfect for storing a Mobile phone while charging it at the USB slots or putting some chewing gum in there 🙂

  • ATENZA: Optional lowering Springs installed

Now after i’m done with the Japan coverage i’d like to come back to my own projects 😀 While in Japan i had my car at my Mazda-garage to get some Lowering springs installed. I decided to go for the Dealer-option Eibach springs. They were cheap, i don’t loose the warranty on the car and i know Eibach is a good quality product. Also it’s a daily driver so i didn’t want it too low for usability and not too expensive. Before: After: The lowering is about 30mm. Probably not really visible in the pictures, but i think it has a good impact on the overall look of the car…

  • ATENZA: Front Damage Repair, Steering wheel switches upgrade

While my Company sent me working overseas in Shanghai and Changzhou (China) Last week i wasn’t able to work on my cars. But my Garage was and i had some work for my Mazda Dealer 🙂 Unfortunately a car hit me on the parking lot so first i had them repair my front bumper. Lucky me they replaced the complete bumper by a new factory painted one 🙂 But the more important reason was the steering wheel. This is how it looked before… And this after 🙂 See the difference? Yeah it’s the fake “brushed metal” Trim surrounding the switches. One of the reasons to go with the facelifted car…

  • ATENZA: Toyo winter tires delivery

Winter is coming soon so i bought set of wintertires which were delivered today. I decided to go for a set of Toyo winterproxes for the stock wheels, because they’re japanese, cheap, good and the Original brand which Mazda uses on the car. Size is 255 / 55 R17 like the works summertires. I’ll go for a set of new summerwheels in next spring 🙂 Now only have to have these swapped on the standard mazda wheels 😉

  • ATENZA: Underbody protection

So Winter is coming closer and since i start to have more time again for my car project i decided to first prepare my Mazda for wintertime before i go back to work on my Datsun (Well have some news coming soon :D)… So one big problem of modern mazda’s is Rust on exposed underbody areas and hollowparts of the car, because it seems that’s where mazda seems to save all the money. So a few carguys mentioned i should really add some protection before (Snowy and therefore salty) swiss winter starts. So i did. And as my friend with the same car (well a prefacelift Mazda 6 GJ) was…

  • ATENZA: Kenstyle Steering wheel installed

So i have some days off and decided to finally install the Kenstyle steering wheel which has been laying around for some weeks now. After downloading an english service manual to understand the procedures i started with this (Before): After removing the Negative battery pole and waiting for discharging to complete i was able to remove the airbag with the supplied tool (also works without that tool, to be honest!). Was a bit scared about handling an airbag but was no problem. Then the rest of the steering wheel had to come off: Once completed i had to transfer all the chrome-style-trims, the buttons and the rear plastic covers to…
