  • 240Z: Eaglemoss 1/8 Fairlady Z Build completed.

It’s done! After a few weeks of tinkering around i had my Japanese Eaglemoss 1/8 Fairlady kit finished. Well, actually, quite a while ago. But it’s finally time to show you some details. The car represents an 1971 Fairlady Z-L (Luxury) HS30-D, with it’s L24 Twin hitachi Carbed Engine. The kit took me approx 2 weeks of work every evening 1-2 hours. it’s not too much of work, and pretty straightforward. the Manual is idiot-proof despite being in Japanese it’s easy to make. The difficulty level is so-so. It will be tricky if you never used a screwdriver before. But for me, who didn’t really have any experience with such…

  • OTHER: A quiet greatness – Japanese Car encyclopedia

Call me oldschool, but i prefer to have a nice print in my archive over flashy tiktok videos. I love the feel and smell and look and the fact that you know some serious time was put into creating a real masterpiece. And “A quet greatness” is exactly that. A 5-book encyclopedia about the Sporty and odd Japanese cars. You won’t find Rocket-bunny kitted driftcars or things like that. Instead you find well researched, beautifully layouted and lovely worded books for the real japanese car lover, collector and enthusiast, covering any significant “sporty” japanese car from the Autozam AZ-1 to the Zagato Autech Stelvio. The look and feel of these…

  • OTHER: NISMO 1986 September Catalogue

I bought something whith would hopefully help me solve the mystery about this Suspension: An September 1986 NISMO (Nissan MotorSports) Catalogue. Nismo was only founded in 1984 officially, so it must be one of their very early catalogues. Eagle-eyed readers will notice that it’s very similar to the earlier “Nissan Sports option” catalgoues in style, so i think they just took over all the parts and layouts and added some more in the early days. The main difference is that you have one catalogue for all their cars and products, rather than single leaflets for the individual cars. So you will find all the usual suspects like MK63 brakes, competition…

  • OTHER: Datsun Suisse Press release folders 1982 & 1983

Lately two press release folders of Datsun / Nissan from the years 1982 and 1983 popped up for sale locally. A long term project of mine is documenting the Story of Datsun Switzerland and another work in progress is the story of the Z / ZX in switzerland, so whenever something like this pops up, i try to get hands on it: the sets usually contain a lot of information about the company’s history and sales figures, etc, but also a bunch of press release photos and of course advertizing texts for the latest models. Usually they get released for big events like the annual Geneva Autosalon exhibition, where most…

  • OTHER: Kaido★House Mini GT 240Z

I try to avoid collecting diecasts, because this is just another rabbithole i would end up in spending way too much money and time on it. But when i recently came accross those Kaido★House Mini GT 240Z / Fairlady Z cars, licenced by Nissan i had to have them. I really loved the styling of the whole thing The two are identical except from the paint scheme (and there are some different colour schemes available at Kaidohouse.com ) The details are quite impressive. with an opening hood with engine inside, rollcage, dashboard, fender mirrors, paint details, KaidoHouse valve cover, etc. and the packing is really high quality. I didn’t expect…

  • OTHER: 240K-GT GC110 Kenmary Skyline NOS radiator picked up

This is one of those stories where you find the cool and rare craftsmen from yesteryear with all the knowhow, experience and some nice stories to tell. A while ago i found a minimalistic ad for Datsun radiators on a local sales platform. I contacted the seller to see if he had somerthing for my Z. He didn’t, but he sent me a list of other Datsun radiators he had. When i saw the “240K-GT” (better known as the GC100 Kenmary skyline) on the list, i immadiately contacted my Datsun Mate Stefan, who is currently restoring a such very rare 240K-GT. He contacted the seller and i agreed to pick…

  • OTHER: Nissan GTP & Group C race cars book

When this book popped up for sale in a local online auction, i catched my attention. I gave a low bid and was the only one bidding, so i ended up having it in my hands today. Nice score! Meet “Lightning speed – The Nissan GTP & Group C Racecars by John Starkey”: I still have to read it, but flipping though it quickly, i can see it shows the beginning at Electrmotive To the later Group C era. The book covers a lot of technical details with nice inside shots from production shop to the paddocks, test sites and of course all the races. I also love the detailed…

  • OTHER: Vintage Datsun sticker load delivery

Over the last couple of days, i found a few interesting and some more-or-less rare vintage datsun stickers for sale in switzerland, which i naturally had to get. Some of them are quite regularly sold, but came in a lot, so i had to get all of them. I will try to sell some of the doubles i have. Some of them are new to me and i’ve never seen them before, like the one i got here, on the right side. Datsun Switzerland usually gave a sticker with all new cars, to put on the inside of the window, but i realized the one i’ve got today is slightly…

  • 240Z: A rare Datsun Suisse parts & Documents lot

A good friend of mine just recently sent me this photo and said i need to visit him ASAP, he got hands on some cool stuff. Who i am to turn such an offer down? Especially the boxes, martketing material and stuff made me a bit curious. it’s not usually stuff to be found at dealerships or at collectors, but only at the Import Company Datsun Suisse SA, back in the days. And that’s exactly where these parts come from. A former employee of DSSA took home random stuff which they wanted to scrap at some point, due to lack of space or some other cleanup. He stored the parts…
