• HISTORY: Old datsun suisse press releases & Press photos

So i got another bunch of rare old Datsun switzerland documents in my mailbox yesterday: It includes quite a big press release from March 1980 describing the market situation for Datsun globally and in switzerland as well as japan. With some interesting facts and figures and comparing to other brands in switzerland and globally: The rest of the documents were all released in 1978 for the Geneva International motor show, where Datsun Suisse SA of course had a booth. Below is the official press release and spec sheet of their full lineup at that time (dated to 10. February 1978). Interresting here is maybe the “GT Tuning Kit” that was…

  • HISTORY: The complete Story of Prince / Datsun / Nissan in Switzerland

In order to uncover and bring you the (most) complete story of Datsun / Prince and Nissan in switzerland from the very beginning to today, i went through the major task of reading hundreds hundreds of documents, tracked down more than 350 Commercial register entries of more than 35 associated companies and spent hours in various online and physical archives and libraries. I’ve talked to dozens of involved people and collected hundreds of rare internal and public documents over the years to painstakingly puzzle it all together. Since the story grew quite big once i fell into the rabbithole of information, i decided to split it into different slices, which…

  • HISTORY: The story of Datsun, Nissan & Prince Switzerland – Part 2 “The different companies”

This is the second part of a multi-post series about the (hi)story of Datsun, Prince and Nissan in switzerland.  Check out the other parts HERE This post might get a bit nerdy, but once i started to investigate the story, i found more and more companies involved and thought it makes sense to give you an overview first, before we go into the story itself. In the upcoming insights of what was later known as Datsun (Suisse) SA and today is known as Nissan Switzerland the different companies will be mentioned every now and then. So this is kind of a “map” to understand the rest of the story in…

  • HISTORY: A load of rare datsun Switzerland documents arrived

Yesterday i got quite a load of rare early Datsun (Suisse) SA documents. I found them in france and therefore most of them are french or both french and german language. It seems like you find the same documents all the time for sale online, but these are quite rare and most of them i’ve never seen before. Honestly i din’t even know some of them even existed. Let’s have a closer look at some of the documents (that one with the blue/red datsun sign is from france and i will not show it in detail here therefore) One is a datsun 260Z 2+2 Spec sheet. Honestly i’ve never seen…

  • 240Z: Rare vintage german tuning catalogue + 1981 Sales brochure

Well, i found some interesting Datsun related documents again: The first one is a swiss market 1981 Datsun sales brochure, with the complete lineup: The interesting part here is that it also includes vehicles from the “Datsun undustriemaschinen” subsidiary comanpy, which are forklifts, the Datsun Homer and Urvan. Then i found this rare Z & ZX Accessproes cataöpgie om germany. A rare Z-related vintage tuning catalogue from the early 80ies: It features all kind of aftermarket and Official datsun competition components. It seems like they imported the parts from  Japan directly: The owner of the company was Andreas Günther, And it was located in Berlin. It is 20 pages strong,…

  • HISTORY: The story of Datsun, Nissan & Prince Switzerland – Part 1 “Prince”

This is the first part of a multi-post series about the (hi)story of Datsun, Prince and Nissan in switzerland.  Check out the other parts HERE. Part 1 is about the Prince / PMC (Prince Motor Corporation) / PMC Mikado brand in switzerland. I decided to start with this, since it’s the shortest and probably simplest story of them all. Here’s a brief history overview about the Company A.P. Glättli, that was the import-company of the Prince brand in switzerland, based on the commercial register Entries i found: – In early 1929, Mr. Paul Glättli opened a Car repair shop on the Hauptstrasse (Main street) in Hedingen, the “Paul Glättli Garage”…

  • HISTORY: Datsun Switzerland Pricelists 1969-1979 (Full Download)

I’ve collected various Datsun Switzerland dealer price lists from 1969 to 1979 over the years. Some of them are very rarely seen, and some or more common. Since it’s important in some cases (for collector cars insurance, for e.g., ro just because it’s nice to know what a particular car was sold for back then), i decided to scan them and put them here for your useage. You can use them for your own purpose, but please do not remove the watermarks and please do not publish them elsewere without contacting / asking me first. I put a lot of unpaid time into this, just for the love of the…
