EK9: Capitalseating Recaro spare parts delivery
If you own an EK9 oder DC2 Honda, you know that the seats sides are one of the weak points of the car, which usually is worn out pretty quick and looks ugly. especially because it’s the first thing you see whenever the door is open. I have been planning refurbish my seats since a while, but only now since the rest of the car has been overhauled, i thought it was time to attack that last remaining area to get her back in a show condition. And then my friend Rene also asked for some parts, so it was time for a group buy. I was not sure which…

EK9: Back from the Paintshop & detailing
On saturday i was able to pick up my EK9 from Renè’s Paintshop. And boy does the car look goo! Instead of re-painting the hood as well, we decided to save that money, give the few stone-chips a simple pencil-brush-up and instead get the paint a complete polish and waxing. Also Rene and his team were nice enough to Detail some areas. Look at the difference! left cleaned, right before! The Spoon Kevlar intake hose which had a crappy rattle-can spray job from yours truly, got a nice sand and filling, then a proper paintjob, along with the Factory battery tie-down. Before: After: On the car itself the front bumper…

PLACES: EK9 delivery to Autolackprofis & Paintshop tour
One of the nicest guys in the “car scene”, if you want so, must be Rene. A car guy with real passion and much of unerstatement. I know him from the earlier days over at the Swiss Hondaholics forum, but his career has brought him from his dad paintshop to being one of the most recgarded high-end car paint shops in switzerland. I’ve promised h im a few times that i’ll bring him my Cars, and finally the stars aligned. So after having my car up on the lift for a few final cheks before the seasons first rollout: I took the car to a tour through crowded Zürich And…

EK9: Paintshop preparation
So. the 240Z project has gained a bit of speed again, so it’s time to also take care about my beloved EK9 before summer sason starts. I’m going to send it to the paintshop nect week. so i decided to remove the under panel again for some easyier access for them. Once you have installed the brackets, it’s only five bolts to install / Remove this panel, so that’s really great. The main reason is this nasty paint chip on the front lip, which you can see from far away: But i also thought it might be worth to take care of some other battle scars: And stone chips: While…

EK9: GoldMook & MotorFan EK9 TypeR Knowledge Magazines
So, recently i acquired a set of Japanese “Mooks” (Magazine books) about the EK9. They’re both of the prefacelift model evolution, since i wasn’t able to find later versions. I think they didn’t produce a lot of “facelift” magazines, since they changes were mostly cosmetic. The first one is the “GoldMook GT-Series No.3”. It includes a full reprint of the original pre-facelift EK9 brochure in the centerfold: But also design sketches of the EK9 rear wing by Chief design Akira Shimoyama Of Honda’s design studio C, responsible for the EK9 and others: You’ll find a lot of information from the lead engineers of the EK9’s various parts like suspension: Engine,…

EK9: Honda Dealer sign & Workshop manuals
Today i made a great deal. After getting my Datsun Dealer sign for my workshop, i thought it would be nice to get one from Honda for the Civic too, but really didn’t want to spend a fortune. I put a Search advert online and then forgot about it. A few weeks later, while looking for something else on the website, i realized that some guy had just answered me the day before and said he had an original Honda Dealer sign. A few messages back and forth and today i was able to pick up the sign an hour away from my home: It is a bit rough around…

HISTORY: Honda Switzerland 1982-2001 Pricelists (free download)
Lately i had the opportunity to acquire a load of more-or-less rare pricelists from Honda switzerland. If you have a collect-worthy Honda sold in the period of 1985 to 2001 in Switzerland, it’s of course to have the original sales price on hand. For insurance reason, or justfor curiosity. Therefore i decided to scan them all for you in high-res OCR and have them on this site for free download. Click the links below the following picture to download the corresponding pricelist. 1982 June: Honda Switzerland Price 1982.06 www.JDMjunkies.ch 1985 March: Honda Switzerland Price 1985.03 www.JDMjunkies.ch 1986 March: Honda Switzerland Price 1986.03 www.JDMjunkies.ch 1989 March: Honda Switzerland Price 1989.03 www.JDMjunkies.ch…

EK9: Mugen pedal set and Honda Switzerland documents arrived
When browsing the interwebs recently, i found M-tec / Mugen Power actually still makes the Pedal set for the EK9, while most of their other EK-lineup is long discontinued. It might be that they fit a wide range of other Honda’s too and are probably cheaper to manufacture, compared to others. Nevertheless. Today i got a set, straight from Japan, as long as they’re still available: The kit includes a genuine mugen packing, an installation manual, the three pedals for a manual transmission car, and installation hardware. Note that the pedals are not dirty or corroded, but the strange look is because of humidity condensating, because i took the pictures…

EK9 KNOWLEDGE: Honda Recaro L-Modular / SRD / Speed seats
Recently i started to clean and refurbish the OEM seats in my EK9 and thinking about ways to repair the infamously wearing out side bolsters on them. As usual with my projects, it quickly escalated into a full investigation about those seats, collecting old documents and whatnot. So here we go: The original reclinablel Honda EK9 seats are made by Recaro in Germany, and are red with red stitching. In the above picture from the original japanese EK9 Facelift sales brochure, you can read “red RECARO bucket seat” in english at the bottom left. That’s right. the EK9 only ever came in Red Recaros. Except for the EK9 “Rx” (racing…

EK9: EK9: The Overhaul, pt. 3 & Hibernation
When installing the new radiator and under panel last week, i realized that some of the bolts, screws and other hardware was either missing, badly corroded, damaged or wrong. This happens with most of the cars when many people do a lot of things with them over the years. No Problem, but i thought it would be a good thing to rectify things. So i got my original japanese parts manuals out, which a bought a while ago: I love those japanese manuals. even though i don’t understand a word, it’s super easy to find the correct page and number: I contacted my Honda dealer and the next they they…
