• 240Z: TABCO vs Klokkerholm & other Rear quarter panels Comparison

One of the most problematic area in any 240Z restauration are the rear quarter panels. The problem is, that during the years it has most probably been repaired with cheap patches and a ton of bondo. Even the so called “rust-free” cars, since honestly most of them have rust in that area. It’s not the best design which datsun made back then and it just starts rusting. Compared to the front body panels it’s quite tricky to find a suitable solution and of course the best thing you can get is an original rear quarter panel, like i got for the left side: But it can get pretty hard to…

  • 240Z: The ultimate guide to Factory Suspension and options

When it comes to 240Z / Fairlady Z factory Suspension setups it might get a bit confusing. Especially if you don’t own an American Market 240Z. Information is rare and there are too many Options and a lot of missinformation floating around the WWW. I tried my best to put all Information together in this one post. It contains a ton of data which has been sourced from official JDM and USDM Manuals, Parts books, E-Fast, the original Microfiches, Option parts catalogues, official sales brochures and other trustworthy sources. Picture shows S30 suspension, scan from the Japanese Motorfan Fairlady Z Special book: As always i spent countless hours on this…

  • 240Z: JDM L6 Aftermarket Intake Manifolds & Turbo Surge tanks

Ok, i started this post about intake Manifolds a while ago when i was looking for one. Meanwhile i got a nice, oldschool FET intake sitting in my shelve and waiting to be refurbished and installed. Well however since then i found more and more other options and thought i make Post about all classic and Modern Intake manifold Options from the Land of the rising sun. Im a JDMjunky after all 🙂 I know there are plenty of other (mainly US) options but this is about the japanese only. 1) Triple-carb Intakes manifolds / kits: Sanyo Kiki / SK / S-三 Japanese brand which still exists, but has been…

  • 240Z: Nissan Motorsports Schematic Catalog 99996-M8015, Free Download!

At my office they call me “Mr. Google” because i seem to find everything on the internet they ask me to 🙂  However when i was looking up for some part-lists, drawings and general information about the R190 Differential, Euro spec transmission (FS5C71A / B) or the MK63 Brakes, it was kind of hard to find useful and “official” information. In the 2012 Nismo (USA) catalogue they mention that exactly this informatino would be found in the Nissan Motorsports Schematic Catalog partnumber 99996-M8015. (Picture shows that part in the 2012 Nismo USA Catalogue): I searched a lot, but both nissan USA, Japan and europe didn’t sell the catalog anymore, i…

  • 240Z: Aisin Seiki Waterpump (vs Cheap Chinese copy)

Remember when i removed the Waterpump from my Motor (it’s already 4 years ago. Damn, time is running), it looked like this: Ever since then i knew i need replacement but it’s on the bottom of the priority list. However a while ago i made an order at a supplier in Japan and figured out they’d sell a waterpump for 35USD. So why not give it a try? When it arrived i put a picture in this blog and a lot of people mentioned the poor quality. After going through the Kameari catalogue i figured out they sell something from a Manufacturer called “Aisin”. A quick search and i found…

  • 240Z: “Honda” Blower upgrade Motor

One popular upgrade for the 240Z seems to be swapping out the lame Original Heater blower motor to the one coming from some 80ies or 90ies Honda. Unfortunately all the manuals i found for this swap mentioned a different Honda model as source for the Blower motor so i was confused. They all looked the same in the pictures and some guys on Ebay even sell the Blower swap for around 90$ + shipping. I thought that’s too expensive and did some research and figured out the one blower everyone is using is the TYC Genera Model 700077 which is an aftermarket replacement for the aforementioned old honda motors. Funnly…
