KNOWLEDGE: All 240Z / 260Z / 280Z / Fairlady Z S30 / S31 Body Colors
For our S30.world Museum in Buren (NL), I was asked to make an overview of all available body colors, so we could put a sample of every Factory paint on the wall. There are a few websites which list the body colors, but I quickly realized that they’re all incomplete or partially wrong. So I spent a few hours flipping through dozens of factory documents from my archive, to find every color that was ever put on an S30 / S31 chassis. And I counted a whopping 29 colors! Disclaimer As with all my knowledge articles, I tried my very best to get all the information from trustworthy and official…

240Z: Mikuni Tools & Documents overview
Over the years, I’ve collected quite a few Mikuni Tools and documents. and I wanted to give you a quick overview. Especially, since I now have all the set complete. I have bought one or another thing a whlie ago, but it was only when I found this vintage TKW (Tokiwara Corp.) advertising a while ago. On the lower section, you can see the tools and documents which they offer, too. On the left, you can see this TKW Solex branded tool pouch, with some special adjustment tools for the Mikuni Solex PHH Carbs: In the center of the ad, you can see the official service and parts manuals. I…

240Z: Mikuni carbs & NISMO / FET Intake restoration
Last weekend, I met my Carb specialist, and was able to hand over all the missing parts (and some goodies) to the man. So he immediately started with the assembly work, as everything else was already prepared. Using the tools, which he recently acquired during a visit to one Mikuni specialist in Japan: He started to assemble everything. the body was glass-bead blasted. some metal parts got nickel-plated, and all the other parts remained origina brass, or the original blue-zinc or yellow zinc as they came from Mikuni or the aftermarket suppliers. You can really see here’s a specialist with a racing background, as he tests everything multiple times –…

EVENT: Japanertreffen x Japanclassic 2026
The annual Japanclassic event was held together with the Japanertreffen this year for the first time. And that with Mixed results. While it’s nic to see more modern cars at the event too, It felt more like “Skyline-fest” or something. Too many modern cars, many of them not very special or rare, with about 20 or so skylines on site during the day. The lack of many classic car owners was a bit sad too. There were definitely a load of nice coars from all eras, but it wasn’t quite the same as the old pure japanclassic used to be. That said, I met a lot of the usual suspects,…

240Z: Preparation work
Time for a very long overdue update on the project. I wasnt silent because of no progress. Quite the opposite, actually. I was so busy with all the small things that I simply found no time to post here. And also you don’t want to see every bolt I spent an hour on cleaning it. So instead of boring you with all the small details, I rather post a little summery. So what happened in the last few weeks? In the last post, I thought I had everything disassembled. Well, turns out there was more stuff to dismantle. for e.g. the windows: I also decided to disassemble the window regulators,…

EVENTS: Bergrennen Oberhallau 2026 Mega gallery
As usual around this time of the year you’ll find me at the local Bergrennen Oberhallau hillclimb. This year I attend again on sunday when the event was in full swing. Despite a few accidents which caused the usual delays, it was packed with a great variety of cars from the NSU cup, to the German KW BergCup, to Interswiss, to the full-on open wheelers and race cars. Historics, Renault cup and much more. What I love abou this event is how laid-back everything is. The pits are usually in some tent on a field or in someones backyard or barn, Families attend with their kids to enjoy the sunny…
