EK9: Optional strut brace sticker reproduction
You might have seen that I found an original set of used, rare, Honda Access Parts (H.O.P) optional strut braces, which needed restoration. In the last post about them, I restored the strut bars and bases themselves, and redesigned the original “Civic TypeR” Logo stickers. And last week, I finally got the call that they’re ready to be picked up.

I couldn’t decide which version looks better, so I got both variants that I had designed:
Top: Original EK9 TypeR logo, as used on the rest of the car
Center: Original EK9 Honda Access optional strut bar stickers (faded), different from the actual TypeR logo used elsewhere on the car
Bottom: Original EK9 Honda Access optional strut bar stickers

On the first glimpse they look quite similar, but once you look closer, you can find many differences. From the many differences in the shape of the “R”, to the size of the “Civic” vs the “Type”, to the font thickness of the “Type” and the position of the letters in the “Type” lettering. But the biggest impact might be the black outline of the “R”.
In the end, I decided to go for what I believe Honda should have done straight away, and used the actual “Type R” logo, as on the rest of the car: I have to admit, it looks damn good. The sticker even got that transparency, so you can see the “brushed aluminum” structure below the red and black color, just as on the original ones:

I spent quite some time with the supplier to get the outer cut, shape and size right, but I’m absolutely thrilled with the result.
I made sure to produce some more stickers, so if somebody is in need, I have some of both variants left. Just contact me.
They’re made from:
– Long-life clear base foil for industrial applications
– UV-resistant Color print
– Die-Cut outline
– Thermal resistant and fuel / Oil resistant materials
– Printed and cut in a local specialized print shop in Switzerland for highest quality standards.

And now the strut braces are completely restored and co back on my car! Super happy and well worth the hours spent.
