EK9 Project

EK9: Honda Access strut braces and other new stuff

Recently, I have collected some nice parts for the EK9, again, so it’s time for a little update:

At the recent Japanese car meeting, Honda was giving away those nice little Frisbees

Which fold into a nice pouch. Nothing really car related, but I like to collect official merchandise.

I also got some nice stickers, one was from the Honda Switzerland 50th anniversary Fan event, and the other from our recent trip to Japan, where I also visited a Honda Primo dealership, to check out some cars, and he gave us some stickers 🙂

I also bought a set of Japanese Honda Access Number plate bolts, which will replace the random bolts I currently use to hold the number plate brackets:

Then I also got the latest version (8) of the parts manual. Previously I only had version 6, so this should be the most complete one.

And then I came across a nice set of somewhat rare Honda Access EK9 aluminum front and rear strut braces:

They’re very similar to the DC2 Integra ones, but aside from the different stickers, I guess that also the mounting brackets and probably the length of the bar itself is different?

Anyway, this is an item that not many people know it exists. It’s hidden in the facelift accessories brochures from late 1999 to 2000.

I currently have an Okuyama / Carbing three-point strut bar installed, but to be honest, the older I get, I prefer to have that OEM+ look with all the rare accessories. The label makes it look like it’s the original strut bar from this car, and the design is a bit more understatement than the one that is currently there. I might give it a little refurbishment before I will install it in the car. But I’ll keep you updated.
