EVENT: Rendez-vous am “kleinen Klausen”
This year’s “Rendez-vous am kleinen Klausen” was again a great day for specactors. I heard from several drivers that the organization had some issues with getting all the cars at the right time to the startline and some missed one of their spots which they paid for, but otherwise it seemed to be a very nice wevent. It got some kind of “goodwood” feeling around it. It’s very laidback, non-competitive and generally just a celebration about anything with a motor and wheels. The focus is definitily on older cars and exclusive stuff. but genererally if it got wheels, is special or cool, you can find it there.
Go-karts, Kids on Motocross bikes, Historic sidecars, a fire-brigade car including dixie-band, 1921 alpine post bus, Show trucks, 1000 PS drift supra, open wheelers, formula cars, and worlds fastest bath-tub (with a record of 186 km/h!). You name it, you find it there. All the cars had several show laps and the vibe was very laid-back and fun. the additional swiss army PC-7 show (they came over from a nearby airshow for some show laps above the track) was a great addition. The specactors are driven around the several viewing spots in vintage swiss Post busses and there is a lot to see in the villages around. Instead of bus-transport, you can also choose a 30min hike between the start and the finish in the great nature. Generally it was a great day.
As usual at these events, the majority is of british, italian, german and american origin, sprinkled with some french here and there. But there was some J-tin steel here and there too. My favourites were Jerome’s 510 Bluebird:
And his dad Claude (from Zcarracingteam) heavily modified race-280Z which you meet regularly at hillclimbs and classic car races in switzerland and sounds likea a beauty.
A rather unexpected car was this 1’000 HP Drift supra from the crazy guys at Eventcenter Seelisberg, which always bring out some crazy stuff
Completely unexpected was this Honda NSX NA1.
And in the Bike-corner you would find a broad selection of historic Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha, Kawasaki and other great race bikes from yesteryear:
You just gotta love those old machines. And they were driven with no mercy on the track:
I was enjoying the day with some friends, so i completely missed the opportunity to take a lot of photos “on track” but instead enjoyed checking out the cars after and before the race in the “paddock” area around the villages. Oh and here you see the Swiss Army PC-7 show team:
After all it was a great and relaxed day with so much cool machinery to see. Check out the galliery if you want to get a real sense of the variety that was there:
