• EK9: Capitalseating Recaro spare parts delivery

If you own an EK9 oder DC2 Honda, you know that the seats sides are one of the weak points of the car, which usually is worn out pretty quick and looks ugly. especially because it’s the first thing you see whenever the door is open. I have been planning refurbish my seats since a while, but only now since the rest of the car has been overhauled, i thought it was time to attack that last remaining area to get her back in a show condition. And then my friend Rene also asked for some parts, so it was time for a group buy. I was not sure which…

  • 240Z: A visit to the Bodyshop (LH floor area)

So, i thought i’d pay the bodyshop another visit. i was a bit suprized to see the car looked more or less the same than last time on the first glance. But upon closer inspection i realized they have worked on a lot of details. They finished the welding of the front area. added some threads where they were missing on this version of the parts i had (some have minor differences to my original ones, since they might come from a different year version, despite being factory parts). Also the firewall area behind the pedals was completed. The floor pan and seat mounts were removed and the inner side…

Also plans have changed in some cases, so some of the parts which i bought for myself are not required anymore. Therefore i decided it’s time to put up some things for sale. Some items are NOS (New-old-Stock) OEM Factory parts, some are aftermarket, some are high quality and rare, some are cheap replicas that need to go. – This is a private sales. I’m not a business. – I will…

  • EK9: Back from the Paintshop & detailing

On saturday i was able to pick up my EK9 from Renè’s Paintshop. And boy does the car look goo! Instead of re-painting the hood as well, we decided to save that money, give the few stone-chips a simple pencil-brush-up and instead get the paint a complete polish and waxing. Also Rene and his team were nice enough to Detail some areas. Look at the difference! left cleaned, right before! The Spoon Kevlar intake hose which had a crappy rattle-can spray job from yours truly, got a nice sand and filling, then a proper paintjob, along with the Factory battery tie-down. Before: After: On the car itself the front bumper…

  • 240Z: First update from the Bodyshop (front left)

Sooo, i’m thrilled to bring you finally a *drumroll* update from the Bodyshop! After 1,5 weeks i thought it’s about time to give them a visit and see if they made any progress. I didn’t get a lot of updates so i was a bit worried if anything had been done. But turns out they rather focus on working than sending me messages. When i arrived the guys were working in full swing: After thinking about only replacing the rotten parts, they quickly realized it makes more sense to replace the whole panels, since i had those completely NOS items on hand. Like the air channel Or the frame rails:…

  • 240Z: Exedy OE clutch kit delivery

Today i got an Exedy (Daikin Clutch, Japan) OE replacement Clutch kit delivery, which i ordered a few days ago: You may ask why, when i have most of the original clutch Parts in NOS condition or so? First of all they seem lighter (i still have to compare them), secondly they come with all the installtion tools required (centering tool, bearing, grease, etc) and last, i just thought the materials used might be a tad more modern and advanced, and maybe less harmfull then the ones used in the original 70ies production clutch. Since you won’t notice anything from the outside, i thougth this is a good upgrade and…

  • PLACES: EK9 delivery to Autolackprofis & Paintshop tour

One of the nicest guys in the “car scene”, if you want so, must be Rene. A car guy with real passion and much of unerstatement. I know him from the earlier days over at the Swiss Hondaholics forum, but his career has brought him from his dad paintshop to being one of the most recgarded high-end car paint shops in switzerland. I’ve promised h im a few times that i’ll bring him my Cars, and finally the stars aligned. So after having my car up on the lift for a few final cheks before the seasons first rollout: I took the car to a tour through crowded Zürich And…

  • 240Z: Bronze oil pump gear, Window trim pieces & more Bodypanels

So today another bunch of parts arrived: First a bunch of goodies from Sean over at datsun-zstory.com in France. A Bronze upgrade worm gear for the oil pump: Something similar has been on sale by Nissan (in this catalogue they state it’s brass, but in some others, they mention it’s bronze too). Here’s a phote of the japanese Nissan “Race & Rallye Preparation manual” showing the “Spindle Oil Pump drive” and mentions the improved durability using this, and that it comes from an “old Cedric”. If i get the translation right, this was used previously as a standard Oil pump gearing in an early Nissan Cedric car. Interesting. And a…

  • EK9: Paintshop preparation

So. the 240Z project has gained a bit of speed again, so it’s time to also take care about my beloved EK9 before summer sason starts. I’m going to send it to the paintshop nect week. so i decided to remove the under panel again for some easyier access for them. Once you have installed the brackets, it’s only five bolts to install / Remove this panel, so that’s really great. The main reason is this nasty paint chip on the front lip, which you can see from far away: But i also thought it might be worth to take care of some other battle scars: And stone chips: While…
