HISTORY: The story of Datsun, Nissan & Prince Switzerland – Part 4 “The winding road to Nissan” (1978 – 1985+)
This is the fourth part of a multi-post series about the (hi)story of Datsun, Prince and Nissan in switzerland. Check out the other parts HERE In this part of the story, we’re having a closer look at the inside of Datsun (Suisse) SA, starting from 1978 until it became the Nissan it is known today. The times between 1978 and the early nineties were quite a bit hectic and sometimes hilariously comical to say the least, but lets dive straight into it where part three ended. 1. The unfriendly british takeover, Octav Botnar & Silvio Cereghetti In the late 1977, a certain Mr. Octav O. Botnar, a german with romanian…

240Z: Random small parts and curiosity delivery
Today i had my Datsun-Mate Dan over for a visit and as usual we exchanged a few documents and things that we’ve collected for each other over the last few months. today i got some nice things from him: First of all a few early swiss Datsun pricelists, including the ones which were missing in my collection. Like one of the very first ones from 1968! Now i’m finally ble to put the complete series of pricelists from 1968 to 1979 online! Then i’ve got a bit of a curiosity: a Datsun branded Padlock. I first thought it was a random engraved lock like you can buy it at many…

HISTORY: Prince Motor Corp. PMC Mikado Swiss brochures
The story of the Prince Motor Corp aka PMC-Mikado in switzerland is quite short-lived and therefore information about it pretty rare. In order to update my story about the company (see here: https://www.jdmjunkies.ch/wordpress/2021-07-14/history-the-datsun-nissan-prince-switzerland-story-pt-1-prince/) i’m always looking for official swiss documents. When i just recently stumbled upon a few catalogues for sale, i naturally had to get them. This means i will also update above post about the History of PMC Mikado in switzerland immediately. The first one is a brochure about the PMC Gloria Six 2000, which i’ve owned only as a scan so far, and i’ve shown you in full in above link previously. The second one i haven’t…

GARAGE: The build is finally done!
Keen readers may have read a few times about the build of my House / Workshop and Garage. The build was about 90% complete since a while, but the missing 10% always bothered me a bit. With other priorities ahead, i decided to complete the project, so i can finally focus on my cars, my exams and my other projects. So over the course of the last few months, i spent some free hours to complete this project. and today i can finally say – IT’S DONE! First i got myself a workshop press for some planned work: I also set up the Sandblasting cabinet which i got a while…

OTHER: Merry christmas and happy Holidays
Well, it’s that time of the year again, i guess 🙂 Dear readers. I Know blogs are a bit outdated, but after trying several other social media and things, i still believe that blogs are the best way to represent such content. I therefore want to thank you for following me another year and hope you enjoyed it. 2022 will definitely be a hectic year for me, like 2021 was. with some great job opportunities, which also means more responsibility there. But on the other hand i will hopefully do my federal exams in April and after that have more time for my hobbies (mostly cars) agains. We’ll see what…

240Z: Another NOS parts find
Recently i ran into a NOS lot for sale again. Turns out a still active Nissan dealership in germany is cleaning out his parts warehouse and wanted to get rid of all the old parts without any stock movement. Well, i signed up for the whole package and got the deal. It were not exactly many parts, but some really nice scores and some parts are not very common to find NOS. I checked the partnumbers beforehand and all of them are definitely S30 parts. but not all might be correct for my 240Z. Nevertheless, i got a good package deal, so i took all of them. The first one…

240Z: Autolook type B seats arrived from Japan
The big Sea-freight shipment from Japan, which arrived last week and constisted mainly Honda Parts, also included something nice for the Datsun Project. A set of Seats: Seats? Why more seats? Longtime readers might know i spent quite some time and money on finding “vintage” japanese seats – and i ended up buying Bride histrix seats. I really like them, but they never really looked that oldschool. They’re new seats with a vintage touch. So when i found a set of genuine japanese Autolook type B Seats for sale recently i had to get them. And personally i think they fit the car perfect, At least for my “Japanese street…

EK9: Big Parts delivery from Japan
Soo, after a long wait, this week a sea-freight pallete straight from Japan (via the netherlands) finally arrived at my doorstep. My EK9 didn’t pass the swiss MOT (MFK) this summer, but only a few minor things weren’t good. But thinking about fixing them, and at the same time having a pallete in japan reserved because of some bigger Datsun part shipment, i thought it would make sense to give the humble TypeR a bigger overhaul and fix a few other flaws as well. So i filled the pallete with all kind of parts, which should get installed on the car whenever i find some time: Can you guess the…

HISTORY: Datsun Switzerland 1968 and 1979 Brochure
In my never-ending task to uncover the complete history of Datsun (Suisse) SA in Switzerland, i try to collect all the annual catalogues of the Datsun-years. Meanwhile i got quite the collection, but there are still some holes. Luckily i was able to obtain another two pieces which were missing. Today a set from 1968 and 1979 arrived here: This is my collection meanwhile (+ this one, which is framed, so i couldn’t get it on the picture). Now i hope to find some rare ones from the early 70ies (the 240Z years), which are still missing and i haven’t really seen so far.

249Z: NOS rocker arms & Complete intake setup
I recently collected a few different Carb insulator setups. mainly just because i first got the wrong ones, and then some more 🙂 Left to right. Original Datsun PHH44, but for the U-series (Fairlady) Engine, PHH44 L-series replica, PHH40 (L-series) Replica: The main difference between the U and L-shaped items are a slight offset in the stud position (see left) What also came in one of those deliveries was a set of NOS rocker arms. Not sure if i will need them, but as you know i can’t resist whenever NOS parts get offered: So my “fun” Motor intake side setup is nearing completion. I meanwhile have enough parts to…
