EVENT: Tokyo Auto Salon 2016 Part 8 – Toyota’s
Welcome to part 8 of 9 of my TAS ’16 Coverage. Today we look at the Toyotas.
The first thing we saw when we entered the Halls was this Landcruiser by Specialst Flex:
Toyota themselves had a huge display with this Concept car:
Subsidiary TRD was celebrating their 40th year, so they had this Aqua TRD Edition (used for ECO-rallye!) on their display
The new Prius ZVW50 was also a little Hit at t he show so TRD brought a Souped up street version (left) and a full-on SuperGT version.
Looks like a legit racecar to me 🙂
Speaking of racecars, WEDS had their legendary Drift Chaser / mark II on display:
Suprisingly there were plenty of them around. especialy outisde where the drift-demo cars were waiting to do some burnouts, like the kids-heart JZX100 here:
Also TOMEI powered had one on display.
As well as ZSS-Racing.
There was even a VIP’d out version with some demon-camber and red interieur 🙂
And let’s not ferget about the newer Toyota Sedans 🙂
Of course there were a lot of Japan-only wagons as well:
The hiace is one of the most common cars around in Japan and australia, so no wonder they had a huge following with probably 20-30 cars around the show area! Here’s a shot from a sporty AutoBahn Hiace 200
and here a even sportier one from Hiace specialist ESSEX:
Saitama Toyopet also had a modified new Prius on display 🙂
Oh and outside we found a whole armada of corolla station wagons, which were probably used for some demo-runs or so.
And last but not least – a Supra 🙂
When snapping a picture and discussing the colour with my girl, a lady greeted us and asked if we wanted to meet the owner. i thought like yeah, why not? and then we got introduced to this lady in the middle which is the owner. And i felt like she was very happy that some foreigners where so impressed by her car and wanted to take a picture with her 🙂
In our last installment tomorrow we’re going to look at non-gt-r nissans, Suzuki’s and Daihatsus, before we go back to my own car projects 🙂
