EVENT: Australia, Tokio and TAS ’16, Part1 – Street Cars & the Tommykaira ZZ

This is part 1 of probably 8 Parts coming the next few days. Expect hundreds of pictures From Tokyo Auto Salon 2016.
The last few weeks Me and my girl alonge some good old friends Made a road trip down the australian eastcoast after Enjoying New Years Eve in Sydney and after that we decided to make a little detour on our way home and stopover 4 days in Tokyo to visit the Tokyo Auto salon. However in these posts i’d like to concentrate on the Cars we drove, saw and loved – Mainly from TAS of course. But in this first installment i’d like to show you the cars we saw on the road during our vacation.

Together we had three cars for 3000 Km’s from Cairns to Brisbane with a lot of Detours to the coast. We had one VW Motorhome called “The Mothership” and Two Apollo Hitops, as seen above.

The Apollo Campervan is basically a RHD Toyota Hiace modified by a company Called Talvor complete with removable bed, kitchen, Power, Waterpump etc. Perfect for a long roadtrip – I always had a soft spot for Hiaces anyway 🙂
However i told you to show you some pictures from cars we came a long on the way. and that’s when it gets tricky because whenever we saw a cool car i either had the steering wheel of above Hitop or a coold drink in my hand so not too much to show you.

Anyway we saw a lot of cool cars. Aside from t he Aussie only Holdens, Ford Falcons and endless Hiaces and Hiluxes every now and then we saw an S15 as seen above. I even saw skylines From R30, R31, R32 to R33 and R34’s along Bruce highway and in Brisbane, but unfortunately no camera handy.. At least this guy with a Nice stagea parked next to us on the Campground in Airlie Beach 🙂

We also crossed some Cool Datsuns and other classics, but again now pictures. The best classic i shot was this oldschool Toyota but again no great picture…DSC_0226

When we flew over to Osaka and took the Shinkansen to tokyo i was expecting more cool cars but understandeable ther weren’t too many cool cars in the middle of shibuya during day time. This is what you’d normally see on shibuya crossing during the day. Toyota Prius and Crown Taxis.

Anyhow i swear the fist thing i saw on Shibuya corner was a quite rare S15 Convertible, but i was so overwhelmed by the crazyness of shibuya that i forgot to make a picture.DSC_0300

At least we found some japanese-only cars every now and then in the middle of the city..

Most of them beeing funky tuned econoboxes, or kei-cars as they’re refered to in japan. Like this suzuki wagonRRP1160740

Or this quite noisy and cool Suzuki Cappuccino!P1160741

However the coolest thing we ran into was rather unexpected and happened Accidently. When we walked from Akabenabashi station to the Tokyo Tower there was this. Boom!

In the middle of tokyo there was something like a showroom with only one car. A Super Rare, Japan-only and really nice TommyKaira ZZ. Google it for more info 🙂P1160745

What makes a day of sight-seeing in Tokyo better then running into something cool as this?!  P1160748

OK, that’s it for the street cars. The next few Posts will be about hundreds of Tokyo Auto Salon Cars. Classics, Toyotas, Hondas, Mazdas, Crazy imports, Booths, Babes, products etc. And oh, while i was on Vacation i got a small mod on my Mazda executed, so expect a post on that soon as well 🙂P1160749
