• 240Z: Parts powdercoated, new mirror glass, new tokico dampers

Hell yeah, today seems to be christmas for my old Fairlady 🙂 This is what it looks when you’ve been picking up parts a complete afternoon: So first we got some anti-seize (or copper-lube as we call it here..) then i got some custom-cutted mirror glass for the mirrors. They’re not bent like the originals, but they where so cheap i thought i buy them and look for some bent ones another day.. fit perfectly 🙂 Then i had to pick up a package at the postal office which contained a set of brand new Tokico HP blue dampers (yay). and i’m happy new nut’s are included 🙂 And now…

  • EJ9: Electrical problems pt.I – found

Well After my crash in summer i got a new (used) rear hatch installed. Since then none of the hatchback’s electrical functions (rear wiper, window heater, 3rd brake light, licence lights,..) ever worked. As im into electronics at my daily work i decided to take my Multimeter and measure. These are the two connectors above the right rear wheel housing (below the speaker holes), that connect the hatchback harness with the rear-harness: here i’m measuring the connectivity – wire seems broken.. and this is what i found out: Seems like the hatch wire harness is broken or cut apart.. At the red connectors (Same as in first photo) all the…

  • 240Z: Energy suspension Master Bushing + kit

Today i went to a few specialists and ordered some cu stom parts for my z. like mirror glass and small springs for refurbishing the mirrors, etc. But the fun part was opening a little package from energysuspensionparts.com today that contained the complete Energy suspension Master bushing set + swaybar bushings + Rear transmission mount crossmember bushings. So every damn bushing on this car will get an polyurethane replacement soon 😀 If the weather is ok, ill try to fix some electrical problems on my daily EJ9 tomorrow, make a photoshooting with my RHD EK9 and probably take a clooser look at the weird floorpans in the Zed 😀 and…

  • 240Z: Taillight cutting pt. 1 / new mirrors disassembled

So, i’ve ordered almost all the parts for the suspension rebuild now. What’s next? Should be time to start with the body.. i found a great bodyshop now which has some experience with Z-restaurations, but think i need to save some more money first.. Decided to start with the body on my own therefore 🙂 1) Rear end with different taillight panels welded in from the outside: And from the inside (where you still can see the originale big hole :D) cutted out the center pieces: after, view from the inside: There’s still plenty to cut, but because i don’t have any new taillights i decided to wait before i…

  • EK9: HOP Antenna block-off plate installed

Yeah it has been a while since i did some mods on the EK9. But finally today i found some time and motivation to install the HOP (Honda Optional Parts) genuine EK9 Antenna block-off plate. Why? I can’t hear the radio anyway while driving, it saves weight and looks smoother than the antenna. And of course you get extra style Points at every meeting for having JDM optional parts installed *lol* Before: Lower center console panel removed (For disconnecting the antenna-cable) Antenna removed: Cleaned up some old ruber (Bottom cleaned, top not :D) And finally the block-off plate installed: Whole car view: Will do a complete EK9 photoshooting soon again,…

  • 240Z: Parts out for sandblasting and powdercoating

Today i prepared the first and major load of parts from the axles and suspension stuff for getting sandblasted and powdercoated (RAL 9005, satin black, before you ask :D) Means i cleanded all those parts from old dirt and dust and removed all the screws and sorted them to be sure i’ll get them back into right place.. (they need a clean too, i know..): After everything was done, i loaded all into boxes and brought it to a local industrial paintshop which was the only shop near me who was able to Sandblast AND powdercoat. but they seemed to be nice people 🙂 Should be able to pick up…

  • FRIENDS: JDM Neighberhood cars

It seems like the JDM-Scene is growing rapidly here in Switzerland. a while ago when i imported my EK9 i was one of only a few with real JDM cars, but  now a Nissan Skyline or something similar doesn’t seem to be really rare anymore.. But somehow most of these cars aren’t street legal, are “just” UK-imports and usually have some sad un-JDM mods.. Here a little selection what i found around a few kilometres around my home: a shop called “street performance” which is actually building a 1200HP street legal Supra MKIV had these cars outside in their parking lot.. As i checked by today again they had this…

  • 240Z: What’s wrong with my Z? / found rear brake parts / Garage update

    1) Today i decided it’s time to check what’s really wrong with my Z and if it’s possible to get it back to original condition. now i’d like to show you a little comparison between original Z and my car: Rear end on my car: Now compared to another (rusty) Z i found on the internet: – Blue: Top rear panel is missing as well on mine and in the picture above… – Yellow: The hole for numberplate-lighting has been closed on mine.. – Green: the lower mounts for the Number-plate panel have been removed on mine: – Pink: I’ve talked about it before: They welded in some other taillight-panels…
