• TRIP: Grand Tour of Switzerland Pt1/4 (Schaffhausen – Furka – Zermatt)

Since our original vacation plans in norway got cancelled, we had to re-organize ourselves. Me and my wife decided to visit some places in switzerland that were on our bucket-list, and i conviced her to take the EK9 for the first part and include some mountain-passes which were on the way. She happily agreed. We divided our tour into two parts. the first one was more mountain oriented, the second one more lake-oriented. But the plans for part two changed (read that in a later post). Because of the many pictures i took, i decided to break the story into 4 parts. Welcome to Part one. Schaffhausen to Zermatt. We…

  • HOUSE: The Garage / House / Workshop build finalization (pt. 4)

So, things are wrapping up with the house, approx. 5 Months after moving in, it seems like the big open tasks are finnished. Still a ton of small things to do here and there, but the pace slows down and i find more and more time to finally enjoy our beautiful  home. Just in time for Christmas season. So this also brings me time to give you the final update on the project. If you’ve missed it, check out part 1, Part 2, Part 3 So what happened after part 3 ended? We moved in… and the gardeners started to complete the surrounding, like the entrance walkway which continues right…

  • 240Z: ignition Switch cleaned, assembled, ring painted, new lower corner valance

This week has been the most busy one car-wise in a while 🙂 Well. I guess that’s good?! Thist itme i’ve cleaned the ignition switches again thoroughly and assembled them back. Tried to keep the original patina but clean it. And made sure all the contacts are fine. Then installed one of them directly to the previously finnished steering column: Really fun to start putting completed parts together to even bigger completed parts 🙂 Had the covering ring cleaned, since the old paint wasn’t nice anymore: Resprayed it with some rattle-can car-paint in flat black and had it drying under the lamp for a day:  And then put it back…

  • 240Z: Parts ready for Zinc re-plating, New parts in

Was quite busy this week with the Z’s small projects that have been going on. I’ve been cleaning and exchanging the partsi n my tumbler almost daily and today i finally had them completed: Now all is packed up and ready for zinc re-plating and yellow passivating. Which means i have to wait for the parts for approximately one week before i can continue. Pretty happy with the result by the way. The Tumbler was well invested money. just took me some years to figure out how to use it properly 🙂 During preparation process i also fixed some parts which where slightly worn out. Like this one. Before: Straightening…

  • 240Z: Bodyshop and Paintshop to-do list :)

I want to push the bodyworks a bit so i try to get the bodyshop guy coming here and check the cars soon so i got a glimpse of what is possible and how i can prepare it the best. still don’t know which chassis makes more sense to save etc. so here’s a list i prepared with all the work that needs to be done so i can discuss it with the bodyshop-guy. TONS of work: Both cars: – Remove old paint – Remove mirror holes in doors – Add new fender mirrors (got the installation drawings) – remove rust on doors etc (if needed) – repair rear spoiler…

  • 240Z: I’m back

Has been way too long since the last update, but finally i got back to work: 1) Got a new shelve and cleaned up the mess in the garage: 2) decided to get some work done on the Engine – started to remove the valve cover and gasket: Love the oldschool mechanics: 3) wanted to remove the cylinder head then but found out i need to read a bit before i start with that so i tried to turn the engine manually and it cranks smoothly with a torque-wrench, at least i know it turns – good to know: that’s it for today, more stuff and work to come soon…

  • 240Z: Celebrating one year 240Z fairlady project :-)

here we go! about one year ago i bought this beautiful sleeping fairlady: And a year later? that’s how she looks now: Completely stripped bodywork, interieur, suspension, engine, wiring, … every damn nut! And i got a lot of new, used and refurbished parts ready for re-assembly: So what are my plans for 2012? – i definitly plan to buy some key-parts soon that will let me continue work at a few points. – i will need to save a LOT money for the body- & paint-shop and hopefully get the car there. – i plan to buy a lot of replacement bodypanels so the bodyshop can start directly and…

  • Update..

Well, sorry for the lack of updates during the last days. im quite busy with a lot of other stuff, getting my EK9 ready for the summer and pushing a lot of other things in my life. Currently im planning a lot of stuff in the background and im waiting for the body-shop for coming here and check out the car so we’ll be able to get the chassis and body restored..  actually this probably will take another month or so.  currently im also saving money for a big part from japan (secret :D) so i don’t want to waste a lot of money on sourcing smaller parts yet.. you’ll…

  • All the small things :)

Well, maybe it was the rainy day, but somehow i wasn’t sure any more if this project was the right desicion anymore. after the rotisserie was done i had now idea how to contiune. i felt kind of “lost in a project” and having no idea how to get it completed.. im pretty sure many of you guys know what im talking about. and from several old projects of mine i know, if you stop at these points you’ll never get it done.. so i called Mr. Petitjean from zcar racing team in switzerland. he’s the ultimate Z-guru over here with some pretty hardcore z-builds and some beautiful restorations. i…

  • Rotisserie mounting 2

on we go 🙂 1) Drilled some holes into the front chassis bars and mounted the front upper support: 2) Drilled some holes for “the brake” 3) Added some grease to the rotating parts so it will rotate easier: 4) Mounted the rear support brace: so it’s finally done now and just needs to be lifted into the two base-stands but actually two persons where not enough for the rear end so i have to do it when more people are around. really happy with the progress and hope the whole stuff is strong enough and will last 🙂
